High school boys basketball: Putnam West's Rondel Walker breaks schools all-time scoring record
Rondel Walker is leaving his fingerprints all over Putnam West's boys basketball program.
The senior, who signed with Oklahoma State in November, tallied 35 points Tuesday in the Patriots' 92-36 win against Lawton Eisenhower. That gave him the most career points in school history with 1,543 in 92 games, passing Marquis Johnson's former mark.
"He's just an extremely talented young man who works really hard," Putnam West coach Lenny Bert said. "He's gotten better in every aspect of his game, but he's always been talented scoring and making us better."
Walker's scoring ability is arguably his best attribute, but he's a strong on-ball defender with excellent court vision. He also leads Putnam West with 304 career steals, which is the most in school history.
The Patriots have won eight straight games with two regular season games left before the playoffs begin, including a matchup at district rival Putnam City on Friday.
