Oklahoma genealogy meeting to focus on Lincoln
The Oklahoma Home and Community Education Genealogy group will meet at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 19 in the Fischer Board Room at the Oklahoma History Center.
Speaker June Stone will present "My Journey to the Land of Lincoln" during the meeting.
Stone is a fourth-generation Oklahoman with eight ancestors in Oklahoma or Indian Territory before statehood. She always has been interested in family history and will be showing her research from Oklahoma back to Illinois, not far from Springfield, Lincoln's home and burial place. June has spent 50 years doing research and belongs to the Oklahoma Genealogical Society, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Daughters of 1812, Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames.
The OHCE Genealogy group meets the third Wednesday of every month to encourage, share and teach the history of ancestors and their lives. For more information, go to www.ohcegenealogy.com or search Facebook: ohcegenealogy.
