Pantone's fall fashion color forecast
New York Fashion Week for fall/winter 2020 is happening now and while runway trends are still playing out, one question already has been answered.
We know what colors will be tempting us on every aisle in our favorite stores.
Pantone Color Institute always releases its NYFW color palette and trend report during the shows. We already know Classic Blue is Pantone’s color of the year. But what others can we anticipate?
There’s Amberglow, an autumnal orange, and Samba, a sultry red. Green Sheen is an acidic yellow green while Rose Tan is a dusty pink. Sandstone is, well, what you’d expect, and Ultramarine Green is a blue green. Fired Brick, Peach Nougat and Magenta Purple round out the list. Core hues for the season are Almond Oil, Blue Depths, Sleet, a timeless gray, and Military Olive.
"Offering a rich narrative, the color palette for Autumn/Winter 2020/2021 highlights our desire for versatile, timeless color. Reflecting a 'less is more' mindset that is becoming increasingly important to consumers prioritizing value and functionality, our color palette is stripped of excess," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. "Imbued with strength and personality, colors for Autumn/Winter 2020/2021 encourage our ongoing desire for unique self-expression through creative and unusual visual statements that stand out."
