Crossings concert to feature Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers
The world-renowned Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers, featuring TaRanda Greene and Sandi Patty, will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Feb. 21 at Crossings Community Church, 14600 N Portland.
The concert also will feature the Voices of Crossings choir and other choirs.
The Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers are directed by Carol Cymbala, wife of the Rev. Jim Cymbala. The Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers are an ensemble and part of the 270-voice Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. The ensemble is, for the most part, composed of vocally untrained church members. They have recorded three videos, three DVDs and numerous albums, and won five Dove Awards and six Grammy Awards.Dove Award-winning vocalist Greene will join the Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers in worship. A featured guest soloist with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Greene is known for her testimony and her voice. She recently released “The Healing,” a new Gospel Music Association Dove Award-winning recording.In addition to these artists, the concert will feature Patty, a gospel recording artist and Crossings’ member, plus a choir featuring more than 250 voices. The choir will consist of the Voices of Crossings Choir and musicians from six other churches in the Oklahoma City metro area. Patty is the most awarded female vocalist in contemporary Christian music history, with more than 30 albums released in her a career spanning more than 30 years. “We’ve been singing the songs from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church for many years here at Crossings,” Larry Harrison, Crossings' pastor of worship ministries, said in a news release. "Some of those titles include ‘He’s Been Faithful,’ ‘Psalm 34,’ ‘I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy,’ ‘Midnight Cry,’ and the list goes on. This incredible evening will include worship, musical inspiration, and powerful testimonies of God’s redeeming grace."
The concert will be in Crossings' sanctuary and will last 90 minutes. Tickets are available for $5 per person.
