High school boys basketball: Del City rolls against El Reno, Nathaniel Goodlow reaches 1,000 career points
DEL CITY – Nathaniel Goodlow stole the El Reno pass before sprinting toward his basket with no defender in front of him.
He rose and hammered a strong right-handed dunk, bringing Del City’s crowd to its feet. The senior guard punctuated his historic night with a thunderous dunk, giving the crowd more to cheer about as the game’s final minutes ticked off the clock.
Goodlow helped led the Class 5A No. 1 Eagles to a 76-45 victory against El Reno on Tuesday at John Smith Fieldhouse. He poured in 14 points and surpassed 1,000 for his career, and Keyondre Young paced all scorers with 18 points.
“It’s extremely special,” Del City coach Lenny Hatchett said. “It goes back to his work and the responsibility that he has since he’s been a freshman.”
Demontreal Crutchfield also scored 14 points while Sherod Davis added 10.
Del City (11-0) jumped to a double-digit lead after the first quarter and didn’t look back. El Reno scored the game’s first basket, but the Eagles responded with a 13-point run, forcing the Indians to call a timeout.
Darius Moonez scored 14 points for El Reno (7-6).
