High school sports: The Oklahoman's Players of the Week for Jan. 9-15, 2020


Boys basketball

Sean Pedulla, Edmond Memorial

The sharpshooting junior caught fire in the championship of the 60th annual McGuinness Classic. Pedulla's go-ahead floater with 4.8 seconds left solidified the Bulldogs' 62-60 win against Midwest City for the tournament title while winning MVP honors.

Girls basketball

Sharonica Hartsfield, Putnam West

Hartsfield took over during the finals of the Putnam City Invitational against Tulsa Union, carrying the Patriots to the tournament title and MVP honors. Hartsfield, a Troy signee, hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to propel Putnam West past rival Putnam North in the semifinals.

Boys swimming

Gavin Sires, Stillwater

Sires won the 100-yard backstroke and 50 freestyle during the Edmond meet at Mitch Park YMCA on Tuesday. The junior also helped the Pioneers win the 200 freestyle relay.

Girls swimming

Piper McNeil, Shawnee

McNeil, a freshman, won the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke Friday at the Casady-McGuinness Invitational. She also helped the Wolves earn two relay victories. During Tuesday’s meet in Shawnee, McNeil won the 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley while leading the Wolves to a pair of relay wins.


Ryser Ramsey, Tuttle

Ramsey collected one of only two falls in the championship round of the Geary Invitational. He pinned Broken Arrow's Jared Hill and claimed the title at 138 pounds.
