High school tennis: OSSAA board approves 2-year agreement with OKC Tennis Center to host championships

Tennis championships are staying in Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association board of directors approved Wednesday a new two-year agreement with the Oklahoma City Tennis Center to host the OSSAA tennis championships in May. The tennis center has hosted the past three state championships.

OSSAA executive director David Jackson told the board the agreement was only two years instead of three because of the new tennis center in Edmond, set to be completed in May 2020. The OSSAA wanted to give Edmond a chance to bid to host the state championships when its facility is completed.

The girls tennis state tournaments this year are set for May 8-9, with the boys coming the following weekend on May 15-16.
