College football: Jim Thorpe, Barry Sanders on ESPN's top 11 all-time players list

Two players deeply tied to the state of Oklahoma were represented on ESPN’s all-time top 11 players in college football history.

ESPN announced the final 11 spots on the top 150 list during halftime of Monday’s College Football Playoff championship game between Clemson and LSU.

Oklahoma State running back and 1988 Heisman Trophy winner Barry Sanders was No. 9 on the list, with Oklahoma native Jim Thorpe, who rushed for 3,616 yards as a back for Carlisle, was No. 5 on the list.

The next three spots on the list went to Ohio State running back Archie Griffin, Auburn running back Bo Jackson and Georgia running back Herschel Walker.

Syracuse running back Jim Brown received the No. 1 spot.

After the announcement, Sanders posted on Twitter: "When I was a kid I dreamed of meeting a college football player. To be ranked as one of the top 10 players in history is an honor I will never forget."
