OSU basketball: Isaac Likekele not making excuses for Big 12 slow start

STILLWATER — Isaac Likekele isn’t one for excuses.

Oklahoma State’s star sophomore point guard missed a month with an undisclosed illness. That was expected to make an impact when he rejoined the Cowboys’ lineup Dec. 29.

Through two Big 12 games, it appears to be true. He’s made just 2 of 8 shots, 3 of 9 free throws and committed 10 turnovers.

But Likekele isn’t buying into that theory.

“I haven’t played like myself,” Likekele said. “I gotta take the initiative myself. I was trying to be one of the team leaders on this team. We’ve just gotta clean it up.”

It’s still no secret that OSU goes as Likekele goes. If he gets going, it’s likely the Cowboys will again as well.

“In due time, everything will be fine and I’ll be playing better than ever,” Likekele said.
