Russell Westbrook previews OKC return: 'That place is always going to be special to me'

Russell Westbrook said Thursday night will "obviously be different." For the first time, Westbrook will enter Chesapeake Energy Arena as a Thunder opponent rather than repping the franchise across his chest.

"That place is always going to be special to me because I grew up there," Westbrook told reporters in Houston on Monday. "I spent a big part of my career there. Met a lot of people there. Good organization. Great people."

Westbrook was asked about his fondest memories in his 11 seasons with the Thunder.

"I mean I can go a long list," Westbrook said. "But we'll talk about it after the game."

Westbrook's Rockets will face the Thunder at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Oklahoma City.

Westbrook said there will "definitely" be emotions.

"I don't wanna get that much into it before the game," he said.
