Sooners' Jalen Hurts accepts invite to Senior Bowl
NORMAN — Jalen Hurts is heading back to Alabama.
The former OU quarterback has accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 25 in Mobile, Alabama.
Hurts threw for 3,851 yards and 32 touchdowns with eight interceptions this season after transferring to Norman following three seasons at Alabama. Hurts ran for 1,298 yards and 20 touchdowns.
But while his numbers are gaudy, Hurts isn't the slam-dunk first-round pick that both Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray were by this time the last two years. Mayfield and Murray each wound up being No. 1 overall picks, Mayfield to the Cleveland Browns in 2018 and Murray to the Arizona Cardinals in 2019.
ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has Hurts ranked as the No. 8 quarterback in this year's draft. Last season, the eighth quarterback — North Dakota State's Easton Stick — was picked late in the fifth round.
Hurts is the second Sooners player to accept a Senior Bowl invite, joining defensive lineman Neville Gallimore.
