OU football: Three-star 2020 quarterback Chandler Morris signs with Sooners

Oklahoma has its 2020 quarterback.

Chandler Morris, a three-star prospect from Dallas Highland Park, announced his commitment to the Sooners on Thursday during the Under Armour All-American Game. OU announced the signing shortly after.

Morris is the son of former Arkansas head coach and current Auburn offensive coordinator Chad Morris.

Chandler Morris was committed to Arkansas from June until mid-November. He withdrew his commitment after his father was fired as the Razorbacks’ coach.

Chandler Morris (5-foot-10, 172 pounds) chose the Sooners over Auburn.

He’s the No. 17 dual-threat quarterback in the 2020 class and the No. 51 player in Texas, according to Rivals.

Morris is likely to redshirt next season with OU barring a change in the roster at the position or injuries.

Spencer Rattler, who redshirted this season as a freshman, and redshirt sophomore-to-be Tanner Mordecai are expected to compete for the starting spot after the departure of Jalen Hurts.
