Meaghan Taylor, Meadow Brook Intermediate functional skills teacher, knew from an early age her calling was to be a special education teacher, and now she has been recognized for that passion. Taylor was honored with the Andrew Halpern Early Career Practitioner Award at the 2019 Council for Exceptional Children’s Division on Career Development and Transition International Conference in Seattle.

The award honors a secondary teacher who is in his or her first five years of teaching for demonstrating outstanding, innovative and committed services to the career of education and transition of secondary students with disabilities.

Taylor is in her second year of teaching and is pursuing a master's degree in special education.
