OSU football: Cowboys no longer pursuing running back prospect Daniyel Ngata

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State’s need for a running back in the 2020 recruiting class hasn’t changed, but the program’s efforts are no longer focused on California standout Daniyel Ngata.

The highly rated running back out of Folsom, California, is expected to announce his college decision Jan. 2, but is not a target for the Cowboys, according to Pokes Report.

Ngata had been the primary objective in OSU’s recruiting efforts, considering its need at running back. Ngata had initially said he planned to sign a letter of intent last Wednesday, but wait until Saturday to make his announcement.

However, he changed the All-America game he was playing in, and thus, changed the date of his announcement to Jan. 2. Sometime late in the week, OSU coaches pulled their offer to Ngata.

OSU’s focus for a running back will turn to prospects like Kevontre Bradford from Lancaster, Texas, or junior-college back La’Damian Webb from Jones College in Mississippi heading into the final signing date of Feb. 5.
