High school football: Southmoore hires Josh Norman as next coach

Josh Norman is coming back to coach high school football in Oklahoma.

Southmoore approved Norman, a former Oklahoma star and NFL tight end, as its new football coach following a special board meeting Thursday, Moore Public Schools athletic director Brian Fitzgerald told The Oklahoman. Norman becomes the fourth head coach in SaberCats history.

Norman has coached in Oklahoma before, leading Community Christian's program for two seasons. His teams went 23-0, winning an OCSAA state championship during that period. He has also coached at Southern Nazarene.

Norman replaces Jeremy Stark, who resigned last month after six seasons at the helm. Southmoore went 1-9 in 2019.

While at OU, Norman won the 2000 BCS National Championship. He earned All-Big 12 honors during his junior and senior seasons.
