Apogon Iris Garden Club: noon Wednesday, Christmas luncheon. Program: Earth-friendly gift exchange ($20 limit), Dirty Santa, home of Carol Walker, assisted by Cheryl McIntosh, 12705 Cobblestone Parkway.


The Gift of Botanical Drawings: 3 p.m. Saturday, Garden Classroom and Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory, Myriad Botanical Gardens, 300 W Reno. Members $29, nonmembers $34. Debby Kaspari, artist and illustrator. Materials supplied. Escape the winter by immersing yourself in drawing holiday card gifts with pencil, cardstock paper and white compressed charcoal. Begin with a group instructional warm-up session, and then stroll into the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory to discover your own spaces and subjects to draw.

Winter Mornings at Myriad Gardens: 10 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday, South Lobby Visitor Center and Garden Classroom, Myriad Botanical Gardens, 300 W Reno. Members $6, nonmembers $8 (1 free adult Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory admission per paying child). Register at Make a natural ornament, learn about winter plants and animals, play games, read a holiday book and embark on a scavenger hunt in the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory and Children’s Garden. Then, make a cup of hot chocolate and join us in the Garden Classroom for more holiday festivities!

Gingerbread House Decoration: 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Myriad Botanical Gardens, 300 W Reno. Members $39, nonmembers $45. Recommended for adults. Register at All supplies provided, including gingerbread structure, frosting, candies for decorating and a little learning, as well.

Gingerbread House Workshop: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Myriad Botanical Gardens, 300 W Reno. Members $39, nonmembers $45. All ages welcome. Children ages 8 and under will need chaperone help. Register at Learn about the flavorful ginger root, where it comes from, how it grows and then discuss the history of gingerbread. We’ll finish by decorating our fragrant masterpieces. All supplies provided, including gingerbread structure, frosting and candies for decorating.
