High school football: Billy Brown won't return as Shawnee's coach

Shawnee will begin its search for a new football coach,.

Shawnee has moved on from head coach Billy Brown after 16 seasons, a source confirmed to The Oklahoman on Thursday morning.  Skordle's Ben Johnson first reported the news of Brown being let go at Shawnee.

The Wolves have struggled the past two years in Class 6A-II, going 2-8 each season.

Brown achieved a 92-84 record as head coach, as Shawnee reached the playoffs 10 times during his tenure, winning seven games. Brown guided the Wolves to a Class 5A semifinals berth in 2005, his second season.

Shawnee athletic director Todd Boyer declined to comment on the situation.

Attempts to reach Brown via phone were unsuccessful Thursday morning.
