High school football: Davenport dominates Pioneer, advances to sixth straight semifinals

Davenport is no stranger to being one of the final four teams alive.

For the sixth straight season, Davenport advances to the Class B semifinals after its 54-0 mercy-rule victory at Pioneer on Friday. The Bulldogs (11-2) continued their stellar defensive season, picking up shutout No. 7.

Junior quarterback/defensive back Carson Funk completed 5-of-8 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. He also had a pair of two-point conversion passes to go along with 18 rushing yards and a score. Defensively, he had two pass deflections, one fumble recovery and one interception.

After dropping two of its first five games, Davenport has won eight straight In its latest semifinal appearance, the Bulldogs will face perennial state title contender Shattuck (12-0) at 7 p.m. Friday at SWOSU in Weatherford.

Last season, Shattuck topped Davenport 54-30 in the semis.
