High school football: Dylan Hampton scores 6 TDs as Piedmont rolls past Coweta
Dylan Hampton continues progressing every week.
Piedmont's senior quarterback accounted for six touchdowns, three rushing and three passing, in the Wildcats' 62-21 win at Coweta in the Class 5A quarterfinals on Friday. Hampton had eight rushes for 212 yards while completing 3-of-5 passes for 129 yards.
"Every week, we see a little bit more of what he gives us," Piedmont coach Jeff Hall said. "His passing ability is a wrinkle that not a lot of flexbone teams have the ability to take advantage of."
Piedmont, which only had two playoff wins in school history before this season, is making its first semifinals appearance in school history. The Wildcats (10-2) will face Carl Albert (11-1) at 7 p.m. Friday at Western Heights.
Piedmont ended the Titans' 40-game win streak in Week 5 after a 10-6 victory. Hall said he's happy with how his team has continued improving since that night.
"It's just experience," Hall said. "This was a team for quite a while that was used to getting a first-round loss. The whole team is more comfortable with what we're doing."
