The Great Pumpkin Smash: 9 a.m. to noon, Nov. 30, CommonWealth Urban Farms. What to do with all those pumpkins, once Thanksgiving is over and cold weather sets in? Bring them and the kids, and we'll make a big compost pile and everybody can toss and smash pumpkins to their hearts' delight. Messy fun for the whole family! You can bring your leftover hay bales, too, and we’ll add them to the mix.
Tree Lighting Ceremony: 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1, Will Rogers Gardens, 3400 NW 36. Children's craft activities, live music, horse-drawn sleigh rides, high school choirs, Junction Coffee.
Little Saplings: 10 to 11 a.m. every other Tuesday to Dec. 3, Children’s Garden Porch, Myriad Botanical Gardens, 301 W Reno Ave. Best for ages 2 to 5. An hour of songs, games and interactive nature fun for toddlers and parents. Every Little Saplings event begins with a song, ends with a sensory bin and includes a hands-on craft. Register by the Friday before at myriadgardens.org.
