High school football: Sasakwa's Thomas Rompf continuing magical season
Thomas Rompf is running wild on every field he steps on.
The junior running back at Sasakwa's big season continued Friday in a 70-60 win against Coyle in the first round of the Class C playoffs. Rompf rushed for 389 yards on 35 carries with five touchdowns while helping the Vikings secure their first playoff win in school history.
Coach Bruce Harrell said Rompf's season has been special. Sasakwa's nine wins are also the most in school history.
For the season, Rompf has rushed for 2,405 yards and 46 touchdowns. Sasawka will need another big performance come Friday when it travels to face three-time defending state champion Tipton at 7 p.m. Friday.
