Vote in The Oklahoman's Fans' Choice Player of the Week poll

There were several noteworthy performances in the opening week of the high school football playoffs.

The Oklahoman's Fans' Choice Player of the Week poll for the top performances by OKC-area players on Friday is now live. Fans can vote before it closes at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Results of the poll will appear in Wednesday's edition of The Oklahoman.

Fans can vote at oklahoman.com/sports/high-school.

Here are the candidates for the city-area Fans' Choice Player of the Week:

Anthony Bland, WR, Stillwater: Bland dominated in a 77-6 win against Sapulpa. He caught 19 passes for 230 yards and four touchdowns.

Bryson Ford, QB, Southwest Covenant: The sophomore was outstanding on both sides of the ball in Southwest Covenant’s 50-18 win over Webbers Falls. Ford was 15-of-19 passing for 255 yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed for 37 yards and a score. On defense, he finished with eight tackles, including two for loss.

Jayce Gardner, RB, Moore: The senior was stellar against Edmond Santa Fe, rushing for 284 yards on 33 carries while scoring two touchdowns in a 41-28 upset victory.

Ayron Lawson, RB, Perkins-Tryon: Lawson was consistent, helping Perkins-Tryon knock off defending Class 3A runner-up Sulphur 35-6. He had 19 carries for 156 yards with a rushing and passing touchdown.

Cavin Russell, QB, Minco: Russell had five touchdowns – four passing and one on the ground – in the Bulldogs’ 41-7 win over Elmore City. The senior was 14-of-20 passing for 190 yards.

Cade Stephenson, QB, Kingfisher: Stephenson completed 20 of 29 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns as Kingfisher notched a 45-42 victory in triple overtime against Marlow. The junior also rushed for 152 yards and three scores on 24 attempts.
