OSU football: Jake McClure enjoying role as holder for Matt Ammendola's kicks
When he arrived at Oklahoma State before the 2017 season, Jake McClure had never been a holder for placekicks.
He had always been the kicker at East Hamilton High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
But this season, McClure, now a redshirt sophomore who is the kickoff specialist, was thrown into the role as holder for placekicker Matt Ammendola after Matt Hockett and Zach Sinor completed their eligibility.
Ammendola is 14-of-15 on field goals and has missed only one extra-point kick.

“We hope to finish the season strong,” McClure said. “The big guys up front have done a great job protecting us. Snapper Matt Hembrough’s been doing a great job getting the ball back there, and Matt Ammendola has done great with the kicks.
“I had never had an opportunity to hold. Not many people in the country get to do it. When you get to hold and play a part in somebody else’s success, it’s pretty cool.”
