High school football: Coyle's Damon Caine Jr. up to 2,500 yards, 38 touchdowns in special senior season
There's not much Damon Caine Jr. can't do.
Coyle's senior running back and defensive back is having a special senior season. After the Bluejackets 58-12 win against Deer Creek-Lamont on Friday, a performance that saw Caine score seven total touchdowns and rush for 316 yards on only nine carries, he has accumulated 2,503 yards and 38 rushing scores this season.
Last year, Caine was a wide receiver/tight end in coach Shane Weathers' offense. This year, Coyle moved to a run-focused attack, and it has paid off.
"We went to a one-dimensional type offense this year," Weathers said. "We graduated a lot of skill kids, but we had a heavy senior line coming back. They're really good at blocking."
