OSU football: Spencer Sanders' game of catch, videoboard usage highlight best, worst of win over TCU

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State knocked off TCU 34-27 for a second straight victory on Saturday, and in the process became bowl eligible.

Here are the bests and worsts from the game:

Best pregame moment

A game of catch

OSU quarterback Spencer Sanders opened the day with a heart-warming moment — a game of catch with a young fan.

Sanders initiated catch with 10-year-old Curtis Sage in the stands before warmups. It was a short game, but a touching moment.

And it was all caught on video and shared by OSU’s football Twitter page.

Worst halftime show

TCU kickers

OSU’s marching band had a strong halftime show. It even formed “The Nightmare Before Christmas” star Jack Skellington.

But TCU tried to steal the show.

The kickers tried to set up on the field. They stood near the sideline — but on the field — and started to get ready for the second half as OSU’s marching band continued the show. The kickers were really close to interfering.

Well done, OSU marching band. Poorly done, TCU kickers.

Best use of video

“Avengers” theme

“The Avengers” were a popular theme for OSU’s defense.

At least three times, the giant videoboard on Gallagher-Iba Arena featured a hype video with “The Avengers” theme music and a mix of OSU video. Once the famous Marvel credit strip included an OSU theme.

And another time the videoboard featured a video to “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” which was turned into Orange Power with players being shown as Power Rangers.

It was fun. It was in tune with pop culture. It was awesome.

Worst use of video

OSU’s WCWS tribute

The giant videoboard featured a look back at the Cowgirls’ run into the Women’s College World Series last season, complete with big highlights.

But there was one problem: Samantha Show’s famous tomahawk bat flip after a home run against Florida was nowhere to be found.

Frankly, that could have played over and over and over on the videboard and it would have been spectacular.

Best uniform matchup

All white vs. all black

OSU’s all-black jerseys with orange trim was strong. TCU’s all-white jerseys with purple trim was just as strong.

It’s hard to get a better jersey matchup, especially on a slow day in college football.

It was particularly better when Kansas and Kansas State made it tough to decipher from each other on the field. Kansas State wore all white. Kansas broke out gray jerseys. Just brutal.
