Big 12 pregame: TCU over OSU in an upset special
An abbreviated Big 12 schedule starts Thursday night with West Virginia-Baylor on ESPN, followed by OSU-TCU and Kansas State-Kansas on Saturday. Here is our Big 12 pregame, complete with a high-riding coach on the hot seat and a close-to-home upset special:
West Virginia at Baylor, 7 p.m. Thursday, ESPN: These schools played last season on Thursday night, and the Mountaineers rolled 58-14 in Morgantown.
Kansas State at Kansas, 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Fox Sports1: A friend of mine suggested ESPN GameDay should have picked Lawrence, Kansas, this week, instead of Memphis. Seems a little risky, without a basketball motif.
TCU at Oklahoma State, 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Fox Sports1: Cowboys are 4-3 vs. the Horned Frogs in the Big 12 era. Only OU (6-17) and Kansas State (8-8) have played OSU better.

Coach on the hot seat: Chris Klieman
The first-year K-State coach is the toast of Manhattan, after his Wildcats upset Oklahoma last Saturday. That’s a victory that will be cherished for decades in the Flint Hills.
But KSU people don’t have to live with the Sooners. They have to live with the Jayhawks.
The Sunflower Series arrives on the most opportune of weeks – immediately following monumental victories. KSU beat OU 48-41, and Kansas stunned Texas Tech 37-34 with a wild ending that showed the Les Miles magic touch remains.
KSU is favored, of course, and the 5-2 Wildcats are ranked 22nd. A strong finish is quite possible for the Wildcats, who finish with Texas, West Virginia, Texas Tech and Iowa State.
This could be a breakout season for the ‘Cats. But a loss to Kansas would wipe out some of the luster of beating the Sooners and signal a shift in KSU’s dominance of its in-state rival.
The Wildcats have won 10 straight against the Jayhawks. Klieman’s high standing will remain if the Wildcats make it 11.
Upset special: TCU over OSU
Oklahoma State football has become known for its rollercoaster play. Winning games as underdogs, losing games as favorites.
That certainly has been the case the last two weeks. OSU lost as a home favorite to Baylor, 45-27, but sprang an upset last Saturday, winning 34-27 at Iowa State.
But TCU was impressive, too, beating Texas 37-27. The Horned Frogs have won two straight against OSU, 44-31 in Stillwater two years ago when the Cowboys were ranked sixth, and 31-24 last year in Fort Worth.
TCU has found some offense with freshman quarterback Max Duggan. The Frogs are three-point underdogs in Stillwater on Saturday, but let’s go with TCU in the upset.
