High school football: Moore looks to upset Owasso

Moore will have a tough challenge on Friday.

The Lions are faced with the daunting task of trying to hand top-ranked Owasso its first loss of the season – and they’ll have to do it at Owasso Stadium.

Owasso (8-0, 5-0 District 6A-I-2) is led by coach Bill Blankenship and star running back Isaiah Jacobs, and the Rams have breezed through their schedule this year.

Last season, Moore pulled off an upset against Owasso. Coach Brad Hill said the eighth-ranked Lions (5-3, 4-1) can do it again, but it won’t be easy.

“They’re 8-0 for a reason,” Hill said of Owasso. “They’re a really good football team. Well-coached and a lot of really good players.”

Moore is coming off its biggest win of the season, a 27-13 triumph against No. 9 Putnam North on Friday. Moore quarterback Daniel Hishaw Jr. had four rushing touchdowns.
