High school football: U.S. Grant secures first winning season in 21 years
For the first time since 1998, U.S. Grant's football team will have a winning record.
Following the Generals' 36-7 win against the OKC Patriots on Friday, they got to six wins on the season, which is the most since a 7-4 campaign in 1998. U.S. Grant is in its sixth season of playing an independent schedule, and it is expected to move back into Class 6A competition next season.
The Generals' defense has been stellar, allowing only seven points in its past five games. Coach Alex Levescy said senior linebacker Jeremie Allen has been a great leader in the middle and always finds his way to the ball.
"He's a leader on and off the field," Levescy said. "He's been my rock. He's a four-year kid, one of two on this team."
U.S. Grant has a bye in Week 9 before facing Tulsa NOAH (6-2) in Week 10.
