Nordstrom opens flagship store in NYC

The shopping experience in New York City just got a boost.

Nordstrom opened its new flagship store Thursday. It’s seven floors devoted to women and children’s apparel.

A story in USA Today reported it features three shoe departments, including one floor just for women's shoes. There’s also a sneaker boutique with partner Nike, a beauty section with an interactive fragrance finder and a beauty stylist virtual mirror, an interactive mirror that allows customers to virtually try on trend makeup looks.

Oh, but that’s not all. It also houses seven restaurants, on-site tailoring, a stylist lounge and 24/7 pickup for online orders. And let’s not forget about the phone charging stations and WIFI no matter what corner of the store you’re shopping. There’s even a place to get a stroller cleaned while in the kids’ department.

The store, some 320,000-square-foot of space, occupies the first seven floors of Central Park Tower. a mixed-use skyscraper. Across from the tower is Nordstrom’s men’s store that opened last year.

The department store chain opened in Seattle in 1901 and is now run by the fourth generation of Nordstroms.
