High school football: Luther QB Peyton Wilson sets career mark for passing touchdowns

Peyton Wilson knows how to find the end zone.

On Friday in Class 2A No. 8 Luther's 54-0 win against Alva, the Lions senior quarterback threw two touchdown passes, increasing his total to 77 to break the school's career mark for passing yards.

Wilson has started since his sophomore season and gradually improved, coach Shawn Meek said. It shows with the record he set Friday and how he has taken Luther (7-0, 3-0 District 2A-1) to another level after a one-win season in 2018.

"It's just maturity," Meek said. "Just to grow, mature and understand what wins games and what doesn't. He would tell you his success starts with the team success."

Wilson and the Lions return to action Friday when they travel to Perry (6-1, 3-1).
