FALL GATHERING

Party: The fourth Israeli Fare+Wine Pairing event by the Oklahoma Israel Exchange (OKIE) was held in the home of John Kennedy. Guests celebrated Israeli customs from the Holy Land and paid tribute to Rosh Hashanah with Oklahoma State University chef Aaron Ware’s special baked apple tart and a touch of honey for the beginning of a sweet new year.

Dinner: A five-course seated authentic Mediterranean-inspired dinner was served at a rustic farm table lighted with candles. The fourth course of Ware’s Israeli -inspired menu was single braised beef medallion with small farm potatoes and hard-boiled eggs over a rich bean and grain stew with a spinach chiffonade.

Guests included board members, supporters and donors to the project. These homes will provide safe, transitional living space for teens and young adults living on their own.

The program: Jennifer Goodrich, president and CEO, welcomed guests, and members of the tiny home team spoke.

Open doors: After the ribbon cutting, the homes were open for tours. Guests enjoyed seeing the homes’ layouts and décor and asking questions about the current homes and future plans.

Refreshments: There were “tiny” refreshments – mini-quiches and cupcakes and small bottles of water.

Pivot: This community organization advocates, educates, intervenes and counsels youth and families. (And builds tiny houses of which the ultimate goal is a community of 84 homes).

NAVY EXTRA!

Seen: Midshipman Perry Olsen, backup Navy quarterback and graduate of Yukon High School, and Oklahoma native Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Rear Adm (Ret.) Greg Slavonic, were at the Navy-Air Force football game recently.
