BEAUX ARTS BALL COFFEE
Event: Beaux Arts Ball committee members and mothers of the 2019 debutantes met for coffee at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. They finalized details for the 74th annual Beaux Arts Ball set for Nov. 30.
The program: Margo Ward, Beaux Arts Ball chairman, welcomed the mothers and talked about events planned for October and November. Committee members Elizabeth Haggard, Leigh Bentley, Meg Payne, Kelsey Quillian and Bebe MacKellar discussed details of seating, photography, attire and court procedures. Aimee Harlow is co-chairman and the ball benefits the Oklahoma Museum of Art acquisition fund.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARY
Cause for celebration: Mary Price celebrated her 70th birthday with a group of friends. They went to see the movie "Downton Abbey" at Penn Square and then to The Library Room at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club for dinner. Following the movie theme, they gave Mary a jeweled tiara to wear and the flower centerpiece featured “royal" colors of red and purple. The chocolate birthday cake had “Lady Mary” written with icing. Her friends gave her an engraved “Lady Mary” picture frame.
BUTTERFLIES COMING THROUGH
Coffee: Guests were at the Mollie Spencer Farm for coffee and a conversation about the monarch migration and the threats facing the butterfly population. Planting monarch-friendly gardens was also discussed. The event concluded with a tour to see monarchs migrating through the Farm.
Highlights: Katie Hawk, The Natural Conservancy of Oklahoma and Okies for Monarchs director of communication, and John Leonard, farm manager, were speakers.
More coffee: This event was one of the Coffee & Conversation Series aimed at telling the community about issues related to wildlife preservation and animal welfare.
Location: The Mollie Spencer Farm is at 1001 Garth Brooks Blvd., Yukon.
GRAND FINALE
Celebration: Heritage Hall recently completed a year of activities to celebrate 50 years and ended with a campus-wide birthday party and Anniversary Spectacular. Heritage Hall co-founder and 50th Anniversary honorary chairman was Maxey Reynolds. Heritage Hall Headmaster is Guy Bramble.
FLOWER EXTRA!
Seen: Pumpkins and fall flowers were seen in abundance last week at an open house in the greenhouse at Trochta’s Flowers & Garden Center.
