High school football: Young Yukon team shows growth in win over Edmond Santa Fe
Things are starting to click for Yukon.
Yukon (2-3, 1-1 District 6A-I-1) is a young team, starting eight sophomores and one freshman in a 31-21 win over Edmond Santa Fe (3-2, 1-1) Friday.
“That’s one of those wins that hopefully will give our kids confidence and give them something to look forward to as we get ready to go play a really good Jenks team,” Coach Jeremy Reed said.
Reed said he knew it would take some time for the team to mesh. The game plan came together on offense, defense and special teams for Yukon, said Reed, and the team has show a lot of growth over the past two weeks.
“You know that’s pretty typical when you’re playing with a bunch of young guys that take a little bit of time to get used to the speed of the game we play and how things work,” Reed said. “So real proud of those guys to keep trusting the process and moving forward.”
Yukon will travel to Tulsa to take on Jenks (2-3, 1-1) Oct. 11.
