High school golf: Kingfisher's Maddi Kamas wins OJGT Tour Championship
Kingfisher junior Maddi Kamas can add another trophy to her collection.
She captured the Tour Championship of the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour on Sunday at Shawnee Country Club. After sharing the lead with Hanna Hawks of Kansas and Edmond North senior Emily Miller following the first round, Kamas posted the only under-par score, a 1-under 70, in the girls competition to win.
Kamas shined during her sophomore season. She captured seven tournament titles and nearly had an eighth at the state tournament but finished one shot behind. She is committed to Oklahoma City University.
Miller finished third in the girls flight.
In the boys 15-18 flight, Elk City's Tres Hill won with a 3-under par 139. Edmond North junior Jordan Wilson finished fourth, seven strokes behind. CJ Phillips of Edmond won the boys 12-14 flight with a 5-over par 147 to win by one stroke.
The final OGJT event of the season comes Oct. 19-20 in the Red River Challenge at Dornick Hills in Ardmore, where the top youth golfers from Oklahoma will battle those from Texas.
