High school football: Mustang beats Tulsa Union to earn 300th win in program history
Mustang notched its 300th win in program history in dramatic fashion.
Quarterback Hayden Conrad threw a touchdown pass to Christopher Doran in the final minute to help the Class 6A-I No. 10 Broncos defeat No. 3 Tulsa Union 23-21 on Friday night. It was Mustang’s (3-2) first-ever victory against the Redskins (1-4).
Mustang first-year coach Lee Blankenship said the win proved his program is on track for success in the future.
“It validates some of the things that we’ve been trying to preach and teach to our kids,” he said. “We prepared this week just like we did any week and just like we will next week. The ball bounced our way, and we came out on top.”
Blankenship is a cousin of Bill Blankenship, who built a dynasty at Tulsa Union and coached at the school from 1992-2005.
