High school football: Korbin Cox leads Jones past Meeker

Jones had a simple offensive game plan on Friday night.

Feed the ball to Korbin Cox, and keep the game under control.

That’s exactly what the Class 2A No. 5 Longhorns did in its 41-14 win against Meeker.

Cox had 31 carries for 201 yards and five touchdowns for Jones, which improved to 4-1 on the season. Meeker fell to 2-3.

Jones coach Dave Martin said Cox played a crucial role in the victory.

“He controlled the ball for us offensively,” Martin said. “We were able to go out and sustain drives.”
