High school football: Former Jenks QB Ian Corwin named STATS FCS National Freshman Player of the Week
Former Jenks quarterback Ian Corwin was named the STATS FCS National Freshman Player of the Week.
Corwin, a freshman at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, completed 20-of-29 passes for 255 yards and four touchdowns in 41-17 road victory at Marist. The four touchdowns were one more than he had thrown in his first three games combined.
The win was Drake's first of the season in the Pioneer Football League. Corwin, who started three seasons at Jenks, is the Trojans' career passing record holder.
As a senior, he passed for 2,950 yards with 28 touchdowns while rushing for 200 yards with two scores, as well. Jenks finished at the Class 6A-I runner-up.
