High school softball: Edmond North hits 5 home runs in win over Norman North
Edmond North hit five home runs in its 12-0 win over Norman North Monday.
After a slow start to the season, coach Rick Nordyke said his team is clicking at the right time, especially at the plate. The team is feeding off the leadership of its five seniors, he said.
"I think we're playing good at the right time," Nordyke said. "You want to be playing your best at this time of the year."
Seniors Jacee Minter and Kamryn Garvie hit two home runs each, and sophomore Emily Deramus added on one more. Minter also holds Edmond North's record for career home runs with 29.
"That's our power group.. lately they've gotten hot," Nordyke said. "That's what's going to carry us as we get into the playoffs."
Minter threw a one-hitter in the game, and Nordyke said it was her best outing of the year.
Edmond North will play its final district game of the season Wednesday against Deer Creek.
