Reunion: Heritage Hall’s 1994 class reunion was held on the weekend of the school’s 50th anniversary. The 25th reunion was at Nashbird, owned by class of ’94 graduate Jenny Townley Dunham and her husband Marc Dunham. Classmates and spouses had drinks and food on the patio.
Other events: The week featured events for alumni, including the annual HHAA kickoff tailgate, the dedication of the Marvin Embree Art Gallery and a viewing of HH artifacts from the last 50 years. The 50th anniversary celebrations culminated with 600 alumni, faculty, patrons and friends of the school attending at Saturday night party at the Bricktown Events Center.
September celebrants
Birthday party: Friends who have September birthdays celebrated together in the home of Mary Casey Kelly. The theme was "Sip Sip Hooray." Co-hostesses were Carol Cooley, Marsha Funk, Pat Gallagher, Dee Harris, Elyse Hatcher, Kanela Huff, Wiley Hugo and Bev Kanaly. Birthday banners decorated the home and appetizers and sweet treats were served.
Day tag: Nametags included the attendee’s birth date, but not the year.
Love of art
Reception: Two artists were featured at the First Friday opening reception at JRB Art at the Elms. Contemporary artist Marjorie Atwood’s exhibit “Stories of Love and Longing” and Tim Cooper’s carved stone and wood sculptures were shown. The exhibits will be in place all month.
Seen: Seasonal flowers were on the fireplace mantles and appetizers and featured drinks were served to the art enthusiasts that included Helen Sullivan, Bobby Sullivan, Kelley Barnes, Jay Shanker, Sarah Jane Rose, Christian Kanady, Matt Goad, Teri Sadler, Mary, Fritha Seward, John Seward, Elizabeth Anthony, Bob Anthony, Carol McPheeters, Sarah Wienecke, Bob Wienecke, Laverne Lower, Chris Lower, Judith Coyle, Laurie Keefer, Jim Keefer, Barbara Workman, Kenyon Morgan, Matt Price, Lea Morgan, Mike Morgan, Caroline Bartlett, David Phelps, Laurie Stansbury, John Wolfe, Elyse Page and Ron Page.
New year-New location
Occasion: 200 members of the Junior League of Oklahoma City attended the first meeting of the year at The Auditorium at the Douglass. It was the first time they had been at this venue. Appetizers by Revolucion and wines from female-owned wineries were served.
Speakers: JLOC President Mandy Heaps opened the meeting and members heard from Ward 7 Councilwoman Nikki Nice and Big Bravely’s Sheri Guyse.
New officers: JL officers are Heaps, president; Leslie Coale-Mossman, president-elect; Lori Mayhue, Suzanne Singleterry, Adrienne Nobles, Alexis Lux, Ann Richard-Farinha, Angie Huffaker, Lindsay Riddell, vice-presidents; Bria Hanlon, bylaws chairman; Natalie Fix, nominating chairman; Jenna North, chief-of-staff; and Ann-Clore Duncan, sustaining advisor.
Picking party
Event: The Oklahoma City Orchestra League met at the American Banjo Museum in Bricktown. Musical entertainment in the “Your Father’s Mustache” room was provided by the “Blue Tradition Band.”
Special guest: Special guest was Oklahoma Philharmonic Executive Director Agnieszka Rakhatullaev.
Program: The group discussed "Discovery concerts" at the Civic Center, instrument playground opportunities and the Maestro’s Ball.
