Texas Tech quarterback Alan Bowman will be sidelined for “several weeks” due to a shoulder injury, the school announced Monday, meaning he likely will miss both the Oklahoma and Oklahoma State games.

Bowman, a sophomore, suffered a shoulder injury Saturday night in a 28-14 loss at Arizona but remained in the game. The Red Raiders don’t play this week but play at OU on September 28 and host Oklahoma State on October 5.

Bowman missed four games last season due to a collapsed lung but was impressive in his eight games, completing 69.4 percent of his passes for 2,638 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. At Arizona, Bowman completed 30 of 55 for 311 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Tech is expected to turn to junior backup Jett Duffey, who quarterbacked Tech in the second half against OU last season and threw two touchdown passes, completing nine of 17 for 139 yards. For his career, Duffey has completed 68.2 percent of his passes, with eight touchdowns and six interceptions.
