Coffee: Brenda McDaniel, 2019 Oklahoma Mother of the Year, was the honoree at a coffee given by Connell Branan and Lela Sullivan in the Branan home. Branan is president of the Board of Directors for American Mothers Inc. based in Washington, D.C. and is a former National Young Mother of the Year. Sullivan is on the board of AMI.
Program: Past Oklahoma Mothers of the Year, family members and friends attended the party. Connell introduced the honoree after saying a few words about American Mothers and introducing Barbara Thompson and Deb Stanaland, two National Mothers of the Year from Oklahoma. (Oklahoma has had four MOTY, including Betty Zahn, 1971, and Gloria Langdon, 1977.

Grant: Brenda McDaniel, in keeping with the tradition of American Mothers, received a Golden Rule Grant. It is designated for mothers and children and she named Cleats 4 Kids as her charity of choice.
History: American Mothers was founded in the 1930s by the Roosevelt family with JC Penney’s Golden Rule Foundation as a nationwide program for observance of Mother’s Day that would help mothers and children in need. Anyone can nominate a mom for Mother of the Year and nominations are open until Sept. 15.
WHAT TO WEAR?
The question: If you are an owner of JJ Kelly Bridal Salon, what do you wear to your own wedding?
The wedding: Jane Kelly and Goddard Finley were married Aug. 31 at Christ the King Catholic Church and hosted a Champagne luncheon immediately following in their home. Then there was the afterparty in The Muirfield Club House with Born in November Band and dancing until dusk. A pool party with beach towels provided was held and later on “hot off the grill food.” It was a full day of celebration!
The dress: Jane wore a pale ivory Monique Lhuillier original dress. The jeweled neckline bodice featured long sleeves and a natural waistline tied with a black silk velvet ribbon. The tulle skirt featured a cathedral train and the entire dress was hand-embroidered with beautiful ruby, sapphire and citrine flowers with sage-colored petals. She wore a gold tiara with sapphires and pearls by Maria Elena and a Toni Federici veil.
DISTINGUISHED FIJI
Cocktail reception: Richard, Robert and Ed Clements honored their dad, Dick Clements, with a party in Harry’s Bar at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. His college fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, gave him the “Distinguished Fiji” Award, an award presented annually for “faithful and unselfish service to the fraternity or a special contribution to mankind and society at large.” Rob Caudill, executive director of Phi Gamma Delta, headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, presented the award. He also gave "Diamond Fiji" recognition to Clements and Bob Ellis. This award is given in recognition of the 75th anniversary of their initiation.

'INSPIRING' DUO
Opening reception: Margaret Hoge and Karen Delaney were honorees at a reception for the opening show “Inspired By Nature” at the In Your Eye Studio and Gallery in the Paseo District.
The show: Hoge displayed oil pastels, oil landscapes and animals, and Delaney showed her photographs publicly for the first time.
At the event: Friends attending the opening included Betsy Berry, Nick Berry, Lance McDaniel, Chris Saxon, Kelly Pierson, Kris McKnight, Hal McKnight, Lisa Elder, Kim Joseph, Maxey Reynolds, Sue Shellabarger, Laura Warriner, Pat Gallagher and Meg Salyer.
