OU football: Jalen Hurts picks up two Big 12 honors

Jalen Hurts' first performance as a Sooner earned him a pair of Big 12 honors. 

The Oklahoma quarterback was named Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. 

Hurts accounted for six touchdowns in OU's 49-31 win against Houston. 

He completed 20 of 23 passes for 332 yards and three touchdowns. He rushed for a career-high 176 yards and three more scores. 

TCU linebacker Garret Wallow was named Defensive Player of the Week. TCU kicker Jonathan Song was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
