GOING GREEK
Bid day parties: 1,159 women attended formal recruitment recently at the University of Oklahoma. They pledged at 11 sorority houses. The women participated in four rounds of parties. Kylie K. Frisby, assistant director of Student Life, coordinated the program.
Sororities participating: OU sororities are Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Pi Beta Phi.
SPIRITED GATHERING
Occasion: Pop! Champagne & Spirit Tasting was hosted by SSM Health St. Anthony Foundation members and personnel at Byron’s Liquor Warehouse. The 200 guests were on the St. Anthony campus.
Ambience: Live music was by Kestrel and Kite and 90 varieties of Champagnes, wines and spirits were sampled.
Committee: Lea Morgan was chairman. Assisting her were Cindy Batt, Blake Cody, Kevyn Colburn, Kristin Cruz, Brooke Haneborg, Linda Haneborg, Aimee Harlow, Kristen Lary, Phi Nguyen, AJ Spriggs-Kirsey and Gena Timberman.
CLASSY GET-TOGETHER
Reunion: John Marshall High School’s class of 1979 celebrated its 40th reunion. About 140 people were at the Belle Isle Brewery one night and at The Montellano Venue another night. There was music from the 70’s, dinner and a photo booth. Lots of memorabilia from high school days made up the decorations.
Committee: On the planning committee were Emma Boone Watson, Marie Fuller, Kelly Mulcahy, Diane Patterson Surtees, Sherri Springfield, Jon Bishop, Janet Bittner Brown, Kelly Hoffman, Teresa Goff and Delmar Goff.
ARTFUL OPENING
Opening reception: Brenda Kingery featured 23 paintings in “Brenda Kingery: A Retrospective” at Oklahoma City University’s Norick Art Center and a party was held in her honor. Kingery is a member of the Chickasaw Nation Hall of Fame. She has a fine arts and history degree from the University of Oklahoma and attended graduate school at Ryukyus University in Okinawa and has a master’s degree in arts from OU. Her paintings are inspired by her Native American background and her studies with Japanese artists.
