Cooper, Hamon take seats on the Oklahoma City Council
James Cooper and JoBeth Hamon were sworn in Tuesday as the newest members of the Oklahoma City Council.
With their arrival, a majority of the nine-member council is age 40 and younger.
Having turned 40 last month, Mayor David Holt is the elder statesman of the youth caucus.
Cooper succeeds Ed Shadid, who retired after representing Ward 2 for eight years. Hamon's predecessor, Meg Salyer, represented Ward 6 for nearly 11 years before choosing to retire.
Also sworn in after being re-elected were Ward 5 Councilman David Greenwell and Ward 8 Councilman Mark Stonecipher.
