Photo: OKC Boulevard is coming into focus

In today's Oklahoman, the front page featured an aerial photo of the Oklahoma City Boulevard, which is in the final stages of construction. The photo, which was taken by Dave Morris, offers a good perspective of how the new thoroughfare will slice across downtown.

When reporter Steve Lackmeyer looks at the photo he sees other signs of development along and near the boulevard. Here's what he had to say about the photo:

The final unfinished segment of the Oklahoma City Boulevard, shown in this aerial photo, is set to be completed later this year. The bridge spans a newly merged Classen Boulevard north of the boulevard with Western Avenue to the south. The west side of downtown, meanwhile, is rapidly developing around the boulevard with West Village adding 345 apartments, 20,000 square feet of restaurants and retail, four garages and four live-work units to the area. Two new 40-foot high murals by artist Denise Duong can be seen on the West Village garages. Development along the boulevard shown in this photo includes new breweries, Scissortail Park, the Omni Hotel and convention center.
