Terminal expansion project begins at Will Rogers World Airport
Timberlake Construction Co. began work this week on its $61.9 million contract to build a new east concourse and four new gates at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City.
Within the next several weeks, passengers and airport visitors will see temporary, protective walls erected around escalators from the tunnel to baggage claim, and from baggage claim to the ticket lobby.
Around the first week of April, temporary walls will go up at the east end on the ticketing level. Baggage Claim 1 will be removed and Delta Air Lines passengers accustomed to using Claim 1 will move to Claim 2.
The new gates, leased to Delta, will be ready in about two years.
The total project was expected to cost $89.8 million,
An official groundbreaking is set March 29.
