Shinola and Disney launch Mickey Mouse collection
Here’s something for Mickey Mouse fans. And for those who may be looking for holiday gifts for those fans.
Shinola and Disney have launched the Mickey Classics Collection that honors 90 years of the popular icon. The limited-edition collection includes watches, leather goods, audio equipment, wall clocks and journals showcasing Mickey Mouse. These aren’t the inexpensive, kid-friendly items found at discount and mass market retailers. These are sophisticated and classy. Well, at least as sophisticated and classy as Mickey gets.
Mickey grabbed attention in his big-screen debut in “Steamboat Willie on Nov. 18, 1928 and has delighted fans around the world ever since. He’s the global ambassador for The Walt Disney Co.
The new collection includes five Runwell timepieces featuring illustrations by Disney’s character artist, Jeff Shelly. Each is drawn specifically for the watches, inspired by Mickey moments, and comes with one of five framed original sketches of Mickey as well as a special-edition Shinola sketchbook with a “How to Draw Mickey” instructional booklet.
Both the leather backpack and the leather tech portfolio are lined with a “How to Draw Mickey” illustration. And the journals feature a flip book that animates a scene from “The Nifty Nineties,” released in 1941.
The Shinola x Disney Mickey Classics collection is available at Shinola.com and in Shinola and Disney stores as well as select specialty retailers. Prices range from $28 for a journal to $2,500 for a Shinola Runwell turntable.
