Coldwater Creek opens new store at Classen Curve

Can you hear the cheers?

They’re coming from Coldwater Creek fans in the Oklahoma City area. A new store at Classen Curve opened Monday with an official grand opening event planned Saturday.

The retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April 2014, closing three stores in Oklahoma – Penn Square Mall, Edmond, and Woodland Hills Mall in Tulsa.

“We are excited to bring Coldwater Creek's unique and spirited style directly to customers in Oklahoma City,” said Dave Walde, CEO of Coldwater Creek. "After re-launching the business in 2014 as a direct-to-consumer brand, we have been focused on finding ways to serve customers anywhere, anytime and in any way they choose. This store represents an exciting opportunity to reconnect with long-time customers and allows us to introduce others to the new Coldwater Creek. These new customers can then conveniently shop us online, over the phone, or by visiting a store again.”

The company said the new store at 5854 N Classen Blvd., Suite C represents the next step in its plan to provide a seamless, technology-based shopping experience. A dedicated digital shopping area makes it easy for customers to shop Coldwater Creek’s entire assortment online as well.

"Customers today have a variety of preferences when it comes to the shopping experience, including those who want to touch, feel and try on product before making a purchase," said Brenda Koskinen, Coldwater Creek president and chief merchandising Officer. "This beautiful Coldwater Creek store will allow customers to experience the merchandise and outstanding service that sets us apart, in a new and exciting setting. We look forward to seeing everyone at our Grand Opening event where our new 'Transition' collection will be making its debut. We also will have great gifts-with-purchase and special-edition shopping bags.”

This is the company’s second store; the first opened last year in Burlington, Mass. More stores will open this year in Kansas City, Albuquerque and Houston.

Coldwater Creek will donate a portion of net proceeds from its week-long Classen Curve grand opening celebration to CityCare/OKC which serves area individuals and families struggling with hunger, homelessness and illiteracy.

The company was founded in 1984 and is based in Hingham, Mass.
