Welcome to the new design for NewsOK.com, featuring our NewsOK Pro enhancements.
If you are a regular visitor to our website, you probably have seen our promotions asking for Beta users for NewsOK Pro.
We have been seeking Beta users for the past month -- since we launched NewsOK Pro Beta 1.0 on April 17. More than 4,000 of you took on the challenge. We really appreciate that. Your feedback helped us validate our general concepts, refine our user-experiences and plan future enhancements.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The majority of our Beta users noticed the cleaner design and ease of usability immediately. We received lots of positive comments about the new design and the easy way to scroll to find more stories -- both on mobile and desktop devices. We also received a lot of comments from users telling us how they enjoyed the customization.
Some other Beta users helped us identify potential problems. They noticed some links missing in the navigation and made suggestions for future additions to our topics pages. We read every piece of feedback and will continue to do so.
In general, the 4,000-plus volunteers helped us make NewsOK better. We thank you for that help.
We designed the new NewsOK to be a clean browsing experience for our users. The home page is a long scroll of a wide variety of recent news and information. The navigation can be opened at the top left corner of the page, allowing you to jump anywhere you need to go.
But we hope you go much deeper than simple browsing. We hope you create a log in and take advantage of some of our NewsOK Pro features, like Read It Later and Recently Read. We hope you sign up for one of our newsletters and get regular updates from us.
If you create a log in, you can customize all of the topics on NewsOK Pro. We have curated 15 topics, allowing you the ability to customize the subjects that The Oklahoman covers with the largest newsroom in the state. Within those 15 topics, a NewsOK user can pick and choose from available feeds -- from The Oklahoman's newsroom, from The Associated Press, from other national news sources and from Twitter posts.
Try it. Log in and customize. It won't cost you anything - yet.
We will be adding a payment mechanism for the premium content and enhanced features on NewsOK Pro. The Oklahoman's subscribers will always get our digital features for free. But we'll be asking non-subscribers to support these enhanced news features with a monthly charge.
The wall is coming soon.
But if you create a new account today, you will get the first two months of NewsOK Pro free. That's our way of thanking you for being an early-adopter. We won't ask you for anything but your email address and password. You can customize all the topics and read all the premium content.
After two free months, we'll ask you to begin paying for NewsOK Pro to support local journalism. We are confident you will find the enhanced website worthy of a small monthly fee.
Try it. Log in to NewsOK here.
