Sears launches Jaclyn Smith women's collection

Sears doesn’t come to mind immediately when thinking about fashion, but could that be about to change?

The struggling retailer is trying to strengthen its appeal with the launch of the Jaclyn Smith ready to wear collection. Yes, the same Jaclyn Smith line that’s been selling at Kmart (Sears’ sister retailer) for more than 33 years.

Along with being budget friendly, the collection continues its focus on timeless styles punched with prints and color – starting at $10. Look for knit separates, woven staples, blouses that can transition from daytime to evening, dresses, jeans, T-shirts and swimwear.

“From sleek silhouettes to bold prints, my ready to wear pieces are designed for every woman looking to express her personalized style,” said actress Smith of “Charlie’s Angels” television fame.  “That's what makes my collaboration with Sears the perfect fit. Like me, Sears understands who its members are and genuinely cares about what they want – to look their best, whether at work or enjoying a night out, with statement-making looks, great details, quality, comfort and style for women of all sizes.”

Since the launch at Kmart, more than 100 million people have purchased clothing or accessories bearing the Jaclyn Smith name.  But is a collection geared to women 35 to 60 years old ebnough to boost sales and help the retailer from slipping into bankruptcy?
